Weekend Roundup

After leaving work on Friday, I decided to stop by Madison Square Garden.  You see, there was a WWE house show there that night (you may have seen the uproar on Twitter late Friday night when AJ Styles defeated Kevin Owens for the US Title — a very rare event at a house show).

For the past few years, WWE has been selling autographed 11×14’s at their events; so even though I didn’t have tickets, I figured I’d check out the merch booth outside the arena. I was able to pick up four autographed photos before catching my train to go home — one of AJ Styles, and one of each of the three former members of The Shield — Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose.

On Saturday, one of my recent Facebook group purchases arrived — a Steven Matz autographed baseball that was obtained a couple of weeks ago at the WFAN 30th Anniversary event at Grand Central Station.

This ball was a real steal — just a few bucks more than the OMLB baseball itself would cost me; and was one of the few current Mets I didn’t have in my collection already.  It was shipped quickly and is added to my future pile heading for authentication.

Today, I hosted live breaks at A&S Sports in Westbury, NY. When they have live breaks, it’s also buy & trade day; where everyone is encouraged to bring cards/memorabilia to swap/sell with other collectors. My friend Keith came with some of the photos he received in Leaf Pop Century; and gave me a killer deal on these four… Carmen Electra, Tony Sirico (Paulie Walnuts from The Sopranos), Mike Judge (creator of Beavis & Butthead and King of the Hill) and Gary Oldman (with a picture from when he played Drexl in True Romance).

I didn’t get any TTM’s this weekend, and I’m still waiting for some other autographs I’ve purchased via Facebook and eBay. I did get some supplies for autographs this week (another binder, binder sheets, backing boards, printer ink, photo paper and magazine bags) and I placed an order for a bunch of Deco markers too.

I also have some TTM requests going out over the next few days, so I hope to keep increasing my odds of finding something in my mailbox!
